My Work

I was awarded my doctorate in History by the University of Bristol . Since that time I have worked as a historical researcher and award-winning writer for BBC Radio  4 and as a Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge, University of London and the University of Bristol. My specialist subjects are the history of medicine and the First and Second World Wars.  I write history books for The History Press, Haynes Publishing and Sabre-Storm Publishing.

Forthcoming Books and Events

Forthcoming books in 2019 include: Escaping the Blitz (co-authored with Penny Legg  Sabre-Storm Publishing) and Combat Medicine from the Korean War to  Afghanistan, Operations Manual Haynes Publishing.

I am currently conducting research for a new book entitled 'Truly of the Few' about  Polish Airmen during World War II, to be published in 2020 by Sabre-Storm books to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. 

I will be speaking at The War and Peace Revival, Kent, 23 - 27 July 2019.
