I was awarded my doctorate in History by the University of Bristol. Since that time I have worked as a historical researcher, adviser and award-winning writer for BBC Radio  4, and as a Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge, University of London and the University of Bristol.  My specialist area is the relationship between medicine, war and modernity.  I write books for Haynes Publishing, the History Press and Sabre-Storm Publishing.
